Japan IT Day in Singapore is presented by MIJS Consortium (Made In Japan Software) an organization comprised of more than 80 leading Japanese software vendors with a collective mission to promote overseas market development among its members. The October 9th event will introduce MIJS member products to Japanese and local end-user organizations based in Singapore. The event will consist of product exhibits and solution seminars.

Mr. Clarence Chua
Director, Corporate Planning and Japan/Korea Desk, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB)

Director Clarence Chua leads the Japan and Korea Desk and Corporate Planning at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB). He graduated from the University of Tokyo with a Bachelor (Gakushi) of Economics and worked in EDB’s international policies and electronics divisions. From 2008 to 2013, Clarence was based in Japan. He was first appointed as First Secretary (Industry) at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Japan and then Consul at the Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore in Osaka. Subsequently, Clarence became the Counsellor (Industry) at the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Tokyo, leading EDB’s operations in Japan as Regional Director. Upon his return to Singapore in 2013, Clarence was appointed as Director Japan and Korea desk, overseeing Singapore’s economic relationship with Japan and Korea. He concurrently leads EDB’s Corporate Planning division which oversees EDB’s performance as Singapore’s lead economic development agency.

Mr. Yoshitane Tanihata, Editorial Board Member, BCN Inc.

After graduating from the Department of Law at Nihon University, Mr. Tanihata joined the Japan Educational Press as a writer later moving to Softbank BB’s EC site [Vertical Net]. In 2002 he joined the media group BCN, Inc., becoming lead editor of the [Weekly BCN] in 2007. In 2010, he became the head of BCN’s Business Media division and has been in his current position since 2012. He specializes in area of business software and printers.

Mr. Kenji Shimada, Manager, Japan Task Desk, Ernst & Young Solutions LLP

Mr. Shimada has 10 years of experience as a licensed tax accountant. He joined Ernst & Young in 2006 and acquired 2 years of experience working at a major Japanese trading firm. In 2011, he was assigned to the International and Transaction Tax group where he specialized in International taxation, tax advice on corporate restructuring and tax due diligence. Mr. Shimada has been at his current post in Ernst & Young Singapore since 2013.

Mr. Michiaki Lee, General Manager, CICOM BRAINS (Asia) Pte. Ltd.

Mr. Lee graduated from Keio University and has an M.B.A from the Babson College F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business. He has worked as a trading and sales specialist at Citigroup, a strategy consultant at PwC Consulting, and has also managed several startup companies.
He has been involved in a wide range of management activities including; business development, process improvement, and human capital development. He recently moved to Singapore to be General Manager of CICOM BRAINS (ASIA) Pte. Ltd.
